Having just recently witnessed a presentation given on the topic of ‘Rheumatological Disorders’ I can confidently say that this Dr demonstrated an exceptional degree of understanding of the subject with great presentation skills. Any patient under her care would be well looked after with regards to diagnosis and treatment.

I saw this doctor at the Royal Free Hospital and was so impressed and happy with her treatment and manner and so consequently was very upset that she no longer works at the Royal Free. She will be sorely missed by her patients.

Dr. Baqai was very thorough but also kindly and sympathetic (I saw her come out to the waiting room, more than once, in order to wheel her patients through herself.) She was very thorough in her questions and listened carefully. When it came to examining me, I felt hesitant since I was there about a generalised pain condition in my joints and muscles and knew, from experience, that some doctors are less than mindful of the effect their movement of one's limbs can have. In this case I needn't have worried since Dr. Baqai amazed me by saying she could find out all she wanted to know by holding and examining my hands, and looking at my face! She was keen to carry out lots of initial blood tests and was very appreciative of the preliminary work done in this regard by my physician, in this case a junior and still-training doctor. I was very glad to be able to pass this news onto her. She arranged a bone scan for me and phoned me personally with the news that, although the scan was fine, it had revealed (through excessive absorption of radiation), that there was potentially a problem in my breasts, and that she was referring me to the appropriate surgeon and radiologist for a rapid assessment. Although very scary to get this news, I was very thankful that she had taken the situation seriously and was making sure of my welfare-happily, the assessment showed that all was well. Because of this unexpected turn of events she decided to see me for a follow-up appointment when normally she would not have done this. At this appointment she obliged me by saying she would refer me for a blood test (to check progress on my Vitamin D levels), since NHS guidelines seem to reject such requests if they come from one's GP. She welcomes questions and will happily go and find you any relevant, useful leaflets herself. A great experience on every level and I would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely doctor.

Dr Baqai is now working at Luton & Dunstable Hospital. She really seemed to listen and take an interest in helping me as much as she could, unlike some Doctors who want to get you out as soon as possible. I hope that I can continue seeing her in the future.
